AMREL announces the launch of ROCKY DF6, a fully rugged handheld that’s small on Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) requirements, but big on options. This is AMREL’s fourth generation of embedded products.
“It’s amazing how many options we packed into such a small piece of real estate,” declared Richard Lane, AMREL’s Vice President for Strategic Business Development. “The whole platform weighs less than a pound, and is less than a inch thick, but there are three separate locations for antennas, as well as three different spots for connectors of your choice. The new ROCKY DR10 8.4” and ROCKY DK10 12.1” tablets are now available for purchase. Faster, brighter, and tougher, these represent major upgrades for AMREL’s rugged tablet platform.
For the new ROCKY DR10 8.4‘’ fully rugged tablet, AMREL has added a:

Even ROCKY’s legendary ruggedness has been upgraded. Like many ROCKY products, the DR10 has been independently certified for MIL-STDs 810 & 461(military ruggedness standards), but AMREL has upped its game with an improved IP rating. ROCKY fully rugged tablets have proven their durability on multiple battlefields, earning them a Technical Readiness Level (TRL) of 9.
AMREL now offers a turn-key fully rugged avionics tablet complete with an integrated MIL-STD-1553 card supplied by Data Device Corporation (DDC). The ROCKY DB6, a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product, is the smallest, fully rugged handheld in the world that can run full Windows or Linux OS. DB6s acted as payload controllers and as an Operator Control Unit. Read more about its role as a platform for autonomous functions here.
The superlight, powerful ROCKY DB6 has recently been upgraded. The point & click operation of the touch screen has been enhanced with a corresponding improvement in the accuracy of its interactive function. Already user-friendly and reliable, the DB6 is now easier to operate and more dependable. Our design engineering department has expanded the DB6’s integration capability as well. A thin longitudinal spacer was crafted to increase the DB6’s “real estate” available for additional components. This “spacer” adds less than ½ inch of thickness to the DB6, which is the smallest fully rugged handheld in the world with full Windows/Linux OS. The “spacer” has been successfully used to add GPS and other critical components.
AMREL will once again be at the Ground Robotics Capabilities Conference (GRCC). GRCC is a big deal for us.
